As the toxic green algae continues to flood the sunshine state’s coasts, the ride tide is also adding to the environmental issues that Florida lawmakers are trying to tackle.
On Friday, Senator Marco Rubio spent the day in Captiva observing the area’s damage from the blue-green algae and red tide. After, he hosted a roundtable discussion with numerous local officials. They discussed issues with water quality and the economic impacts the algae is having locally.Speaking on the visit, Senator Rubio commented that “Today I saw firsthand the impacts that toxic algae and red tide are having on communities in Southwest Florida. We are making progress, but we must continue to ensure the right resources are available for the communities affected by these blooms and work to solve our underlying water quality and infrastructure challenges.”
Thursday, before visiting the area, Senator Rubio introduced the South Florida Clean Coastal Waters Act, which directs the Interagency Task Force on Harmful Algal Blooms to fully assess causes and effects of the Interagency around the sunshine state’s south and southwestern coasts as well as Lake Okeechobee.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
The ultimate goal is to make sure that there are enough resources to combat this growing problem.
