President Trump wants a military parade and Democrats, the media are besides themselves over the idea. Deep in the bowels of the U.S. Capitol many of the “fake news” reporters chuckled amongst themselves and even expressed their disgust over the president’s possible parade to praise U.S. military personnel.
Yes, the biased reporters on Capitol Hill think that Trump wants to showcase the military in the style of resident N. Korean fat boy and dictator, Kim Jung Un.
Reporters have been writing that there is a bipartisan support against-only the military parade, but fail to report that many Republicans support the move.
Take Senator Ted Cruz (R) for instance. While entering an elevator leaving the Senate chamber, we asked him about the parade, and with a simple smile and wink of the eye, Cruz all-but approved of the idea
Then there is Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma. Inhofe was less subtle about his support for the president’s parade, saying that he thinks “it’s a good idea,” adding that that he will be “out marching.”
“I think it’s a good idea, why is it controversial? If we’re gonna have a parade of any kind, what’s wrong with having a military parade? I’m sure they are not going to be marching Nazi style. I have failed to see who is opposed to a military parade. To me this is more awareness that this country needs very much so. I’ll be out marching.”- Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK)
And of course, there is Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC). Graham told The Shark Tank that he wants to see personnel only parade “to thank the nation’s finest and their families,” not some “cheesy and weak display of hardware.”
Over in the House, Republicans like Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Neal Dunn (R-FL) also would like to see a show of awareness and praise for the military.
The Democrats
Like we stated above, Democrats are not very happy with the idea, even though Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called for a similar parade to be conducted back in 2014.
We caught up with Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), yes, that Dick Durbin, outside the Senate chamber, and asked him if he was going to be attending the president’s parade.
As you can imagine, Durbin emphatically said he would not be attending the event, calling it a “colossal waste of funds.”
“I can assure you I will not. I believe that spending millions, if not more, on the president’s amusement is a colossal waste of funds that could be spent to make sure our troops are ready for battle and come home safely, their families receive all the support they deserve, and that the waiting lines at VA facilities be reduced. That’s how we can honor our military, not with a parade for the president.”-Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL)
Meanwhile, Democrats forced the recent government shutdown for their amusement, causing thousands of military personnel to go without pay for several days.
What was that you said Senator Durbin?
