Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera has finally taken his gloves off in the hotly contested U.S. Senate Race to replace outgoing Senator Marco Rubio, swiping at frontrunner Rep. David Jolly over his comment that he used the Veterans issue to help Congress dismal polling numbers.
Jolly called into the Boston Herald radio show where he stated that he has joked about using the Veterans issue up to help “increase” Congress’ “poll ratings.”I joke that “with congressional approval ratings so low, I’ve had to turn to bringing Veterans back to life just to try to up our poll ratings in Congress and increase our approval.”-Rep. David Jolly (R)
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Lopez-Cantera took issue:
Jolly is the only Senate candidate who has eclipse double-digits, but like the rest of the field, which includes Lopez-Cantera, Rep. Ron DeSantis (R), and business Todd Wilcox, is burdened by having very low statewide name recognition.“I am appalled by David Jolly’s statement, and words like these show the disconnect between Washington and the rest of us. His claims of using Veterans to raise his poll numbers is disgraceful and insulting to those who have served. Veterans are our nation’s heroes, not poll numbers.”- Carlos Lopez-Cantera
Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, who recently moved to Florida from Maryland, is mulling over his political options, and who leaning towards jumping into this race, said that Jolly’s comment was “grossly inappropriate.”
Update: Team Jolly responded to ‘CLC” with this:
“His comments are as inconsequential as his candidacy.” -Max Goodman, Political Director
