Representative Corrine Brown (FL-D) filed a lawsuit challenging the Florida Supreme Court’s ruling which led to the state Legislature redrawing congressional districts.
The new map drawn by the special committee dramatically changes her 5th Congressional District. It no longer snakes through Jacksonville’s urban core to Orlando. Now it would stretch from downtown Jacksonville along the Florida-Georgia border to west Tallahassee. She alleges that the Republicans changed the map so she will no longer have a safe seat to run for Congress.

According to News4Jax, the lawsuit claims the Florida Supreme Court decision violates Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.
She also said:The newly configured maps clearly will bring about minority vote dilution and hamper the ability of the state’s minority residents to elect a candidate of choice. Beyond a doubt, it is particularly important for African-American and Latino communities to be heard, whose representation and voting power will be severely impacted by redistricting.
Some people believe her argument is racist and she is discriminating against all other voters. She is essentially saying she only wants African-American’s and Latino voters in her district and is suing over it.
