Former Republican Congressional candidate and conservative grassroots favorite Byron Donalds, has just announced that he will be running for the Florida State House of Representatives in District 80.
Donalds told the Collier County Republican Executive Committee of his intentions last night at their monthly meeting, and will be filing the necessary paperwork at 8am Tuesday morning, and has already set up a campaign website.Florida’s House district 80 seat is currently being held by Representative Matt Hudson, who will be leaving this solid Republican seat because of term limits.
Shortly after making his remarks to the committee, Donalds told the Shark Tank that Florida needed to elect “conservative members” to the Florida House that are willing and able to convey a message of “conservative values and principles” to all Floridians, adding that he had the “track record” of being able to do just that.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Remember, while losing his Republican congressional primary race in 2012 to then-candidate Trey Radel, who later won the seat in the general election, Donalds was able to carry the vote in House district 80, which is nestled within that congressional district.
Rep. Curt Clawson (R) won a special Republican primary and then general election last year to replace Radel, who stepped down after a drug arrest, and is a staunch supporter of Donalds.
Clawson credits Donalds and his wife Erika, who just so happens to sit on the Collier County School Board, for helping him win his contentious congressional race over Republican State Senator Lizbeth Benacquisto in 2014.
