Willingboro council voted earlier this month to change the John F. Kennedy Center’s name to the Barack Obama Center. After a lot of backlash from the primarily Democratic town they have scheduled a second vote and admitted the first vote was rushed.
Even the Mayor of Willingboro, Eddie Campbell, Jr. said the following in regards to President Obama “he hasn’t finished his job yet. If we’re going to name a building, I think we should wait until after the president finishes his tour of duty.”This is not the first time in New Jersey renaming a building after President Obama has been subject to controversy. Not too long after President Obama was first elected, Asbury Park, NJ renamed one of their schools the Barack H. Obama Elementary School.
The Barack H. Obama Elementary School closed a year later because they had low enrollment in the school.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Former US Congressional Candidate and resident of Asbury Park, Ernesto Cullari (NJ-R) had the following to say about the closed school’s current status “for more than a year that space sat empty while the BOE wasted taxpayer money renting posh space in Asbury’s elite downtown.”
When will NJ learn naming buildings after President Obama is not a wise and/or lucrative idea?
