Governor-elect DeSantis’ is embarking on his statewide “Thank You Tour”, and the first stop is in New Port Richey where he’s promising the sunshine state that he will be appointing conservative justices to the Florida Supreme Court. He’s also assuring that his focus for Florida will be job creation.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters at Spartan Manor, Governor-elect DeSantis reminded that “we know we would not be here if it were not for you.”Much like President Donald Trump’s own tour held after his Presidential victory, DeSantis is taking this moment to address his supporters, and it’s in New Port Richey that he relayed a conversation with the President.
DeSantis told attendants that he had called the President to ask about the direction of his administration, and it was in that call that President Trump informed him that William Barr would be replacing Jeff Sessions as U.S. Attorney General.

Speaking on Barr, DeSantis commented that “This is a guy who is very, very smart, understands the law. I think that he has the right outlook, and I think he has the backbone necessary to do a good job for the people of this country.”
Concerning the justices he is set to appoint, DeSantis spoke on a conversation with Florida Governor Bush who told him that “I get as many appointments as he and Rick Scott had in 16 years.”
And, DeSantis added that “The job of a judge is qualitatively different that that for a legislator. The current majority on the court has not respected that to the extent I would want. That’s going to be a necessary condition to get my support.”On creating jobs, the Governor-elect detailed that “Even if things in the national economy turn, and there’s a lot going on nationally, I want to make sure Florida remains the place where people can do well and where we can be creating jobs. That’s very important.”
