With the midterm election a few days away, Florida Senator Bill Nelson is leading in his senate reelection bid against Florida Governor Rick Scott.
In response, the Hispanic Leadership Fund is adding their support to the Governor’s bid by releasing two radio and digital advertisements. One is in English and the other one is in Spanish, and the advertisements argue that Governor Scott has been a supporter of the hard-working Hispanic community. In addition, Scott’s helped create more than 1.5 million new jobs in the 8 years he’s held office, and the advertisements imply that Senator Bill Nelson is just an “out-of-touch career Washington politician.”Governor Rick Scott, in early polls, was leading among South Florida’s Hispanic community, and the Puerto Rican community showed Scott polling as a candidate that is better-liked and better-known.
In a news release, Mario H. Lopez, the Hispanic Leadership Fund President, praised the Governor by commenting that “Hispanic constituents and voters deserve to know who is implanting policies that help our communities grow and which candidate is providing opportunities for families to achieve the American Dream. There is no question that the jobs Rick Scott has helped create as Governor in Florida have been a benefit to Hispanics and to all communities in Florida.”

In the English and Spanish advertisements, it’s argued that “As a successful businessman, Rick Scott knows how to create jobs better than out-of-touch career politicians. Those jobs help us care for our families, buy a house, start a business, pay for health care, or get a college degree.”
It also adds that Governor Scott should be thanked “for helping Hispanics achieve the American Dream.”
The Hispanic Leadership Fund was created in 2008. On their website, the Fund is explained as a “center-right non-partisan national Latino advocacy organization governed exclusively by Latino political and public policy professionals.”
