If you are a candidate running for whatever office in Miami-Dade County, you better have your anti-Castro bona fides in place before election day.
In Florida’s hotly contested congressional race between Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R) and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, the issue that is sucking the air out of the room is Cuba.Mucarsel-Powell is running ads about the NRA and guns, trying to brand Curbelo as a pro-gun fanatic that is beholden to the gun lobby.
Curbelo on the other hand is hitting his opponent where it really hurts.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Just last week, the Curbelo campaign bashed Mucarsel-Powell for her close affiliation with Rep. Barbara Lee (D), who is on record of praising Fidel Castro.
Now Team Curbelo is doubling-down on the anti-Castro campaign by pointing out that Mucarsel-Powell is also in-line with yet another Castro sympathizer, Rep. Kathy Castor (D).
“It’s hard to imagine how desperate someone must be when they continuously accept the money of sympathizers to an alleged child molester and the most evil tyrants in our Hemisphere,” Curbelo spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez said. “Mucarsel-Powell is incapable of being a voice for the victims of far-left depots or sexual assault because as she’s shown us over and over, a check is all it takes to put South Florida values on the back burner. With Kathy Castor, Mucarsel-Powell is doubling-down to send a clear message to the voters of this community: She doesn’t share their values, she knows it, and she couldn’t care less.”Castor recently sat down with Cuban President Diaz-Canel last month in New York.
“For the first time in nearly six decades, the world is seeing Cuba without a Castro at the helm. For the United States, this is a new opportunity for improved relations with our neighbor just 90 miles off the Florida coast – one we cannot afford to let slip by. During the meeting, I stressed the importance of continued dialogue and engagement between the U.S. and Cuba to benefit the citizens of both countries. President Díaz-Canel expressed the hope for normal relations between the two countries as well.”-Rep. Kathy Castor (D)
Earth to Mucarsel-Powell, come in Mucarsel-Powell. There are still enough Cuban exiles and their family left in the congressional district you are running in.
