It’s not news that Governor Rick Scott has been dominating in his bid to take over Senator Bill Nelson’s seat. He’s outspent and outmanned Senator Nelson so far in terms of advertisements, and he’s also been polling high. A recent poll showed that Governor Scott is better-liked and better-known among Puerto Ricans, and Governor Scott is also polling high among Cubans in South Florida.
Now, it’s being in a campaign finance report that Governor Scott brought in $22 million during his first quarter, which is considered the biggest haul for a quarter in Florida history. Before this haul, the biggest fundraising quarter came from Senator Marco Rubio who brought in $5.6 million during his reelection bid in 2016.
In response to the Governor’s work, Senator Bill Nelson hasn’t been able to raise nearly as much, and he also hasn’t gone on air with television advertisements. On the contrary, he’s received help from Democratic groups, but his lack of being on the offensive even scare political strategists because they say that the Nelson campaign is not properly equipped to take on the Scott campaign.

Governor Scott has also released a slew of advertisements attacking Senator Nelson as being a career politician and having a negative effect on the economy by not voting in favor of the GOP tax bill.
