U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R) has joined Senator Marco Rubio (R) in denouncing Nicaragua’s “guerrilla leader” Daniel Ortega,as he and his wife (the country’s VP) continue to step on the hopes, dreams, and necks of his fellow countrymen standing against his murderous ways.
Ortega continues to rule with an iron fist and has now deployed paramilitary fighters to suppress protests against his government. According to the Washington Post, these thugs shot and kill two students and injured 10 of the 200 or so students seeking refuge at a small Catholic church in the capitol of Managua .this past weekendLuckily, the clergy was able to negotiate their release.
Ortega’s government was quick to call these student protestors as “terrorists and criminals” who it claims attacked a group of Sandinistas that very same day, and caused damage to their college campus.
Unreal what’s happening in #Nicaragua. @StateDept @UN @OAS_official cannot observe with indifference. More sanctions, more pressure, and more severe consequences for the murderous guerrilla leader Daniel Ortega are needed. #SOSNicaragua https://t.co/LEoEbrJFIW
