Pro-life group Florida Right to Life has endorsed Republican businessman Scott Sturgill in his bid for the sunshine state’s 7th Congressional District seat. They are the second pro-life group to endorse Sturgill with the first being the Family Research Council.
The council endorsed Sturgill back in mid-May.Sturgill is one of three Republicans looking to unseat Democratic representative Stephanie Murphy. Her Congressional District covers a majority of Seminole County and an area of Orange County, which includes downtown Orlando. Its became friendlier to Democrats after the new congressional maps were approved by Florida courts in late 2015.
J.G. Halisky, Florida Right to Life’s chair, commented that “Sturgill is the best pro-life candidate in this race.”

In response to the endorsement, Sturgill commented that “I have the endorsement from the FRTL because they know I’m serious when I say I’m pro-life. I’m dedicated to protecting human life and especially for those most vulnerable.”
These endorsements come at a time when the pro-life movement is fired up after Justice Anthony Kennedy announced that he would be retiring from the Supreme Court. As a result, many people expect a conservative Justice to replace Kennedy and that would mean that the long debated Roe vs. Wade would be tackled.
