Shaquille O’Neal, former basketball player for both the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat, is following in the foot steps of former Heat Guard Ray Allen by endorsing former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine to replace term-limited Florida Governor Rick Scott.
In a radio advertisement that the Levine campaign will be airing across the sunshine state, Shaquille O’Neal comments that “You know, I’ve met a lot of people in my life — but there’s something really special about this guy from Florida who’s never been afraid to step up for others when the game of life is on the line; his name is Philip Levine.”
Unlike Allen, Shaquille O’Neal has made other endorsements including Republican Governor Chris Christie in his 2013 re-election, and earlier in 2018 he also endorsed Orlando Police Chief John Mina for Orange County Sheriff. In addition, O’Neal has also toyed around with the idea of running for sheriff in the Broward or Orange County. However, he’s made no official announcements, but he’s been an honorary deputy and reserve police officer in Doral, Miami Beach, Los Angeles and Clayton County in Georgia.
He is currently a registered voter in Windermere in Orange County, and he’s the 2nd athlete to endorse the former Miami Beach Mayor.
