Term-limited Governor Rick Scott has already released a slew of advertisements in English and Spanish attacking Senator Bill Nelson on being a “career politician” and having a negative effect on the economy, citing his failure on voting for the GOP tax bill.
Now, a Pro-Scott Super PAC is intensifying the attack on Senator Nelson, and this comes at a time when Governor Scott is maintaining a lead over Senator Nelson and Democratic strategists are concerns that the Nelson campaign is not efficiently equipped to win reelection. In the 30-second advertisement titled “Timeline,” Scott’s attack of Nelson being a career politician is echoed as the advertisement details Nelson’s beginning as 29-year-old state legislator to the present. A male narrator explains that “Politician Bill Nelson continues to run for public office, leaving few footprints behind.” He comments that all Nelson does is side “with Hillary Clinton 89 percent of the time. And raises taxes again.”
In the race, older Floridian voters are expected to play a pivotal role, and it’s a demographic where Governor Scott is surging amongst. In a recent poll conducted for AARP and Politico by Morning Consult, among voters that are 50 and over, Governor Scott is leading 44 percent to 35 percent.
