The race to win the Republican gubernatorial nomination in Florida appears to be boiling down to who can raise the most money.
Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam is the top dog when it comes to fundraising, but Rep. Ron DeSantis is right behind him and is making the cash race very respectable.DeSantis’ campaign just announce that he raised $3 million this past reporting cycle, $500,ooo of that coming from one of Senator Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign supporters, hedge fund manager Kenneth Griffin.
But money aside, DeSantis and Putnam seem to be running neck-and-neck when it comes to garnering the coveted GOP grassroots support that both Rubio and President Trump were able to win over.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
From the looks of it, the Trump base of support is backing DeSantis, while the rest of the Republican base is siding with Putnam.
It’s still relatively early, so this could change. All bets are off in this race.
In an early non-scientific poll we conducted here one the website, DeSantis was leading Putnam by a 3-to-1 margin. Again, this poll is very unscientific.
