The “Yosemite Sam” of Florida politics, and one of the most devout Trump supporters, U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R), is in a bit of a tussle with his primary opponent Cris Dosev, a self-described “Family Man, Combat Veteran, and Small Business Owner.”

Gaetz, who hasn’t met a TV camera he didn’t like, tweeted a response to Dosev’s campaign claim that he was a “momma’s boy.”

Why do politicians feel the need to bring up people’s moms?

Gaetz posted a picture of him and his mom Victoria, where hit back a Dosev by asserting that he would defeat him again on election night.

Dosev took the high road and measured his response, all-but acknowledge Mrs. Gaetz’s illness and telling Gaetz to “cherish” the time they had left together.

“Wonderful photo of you two. Cherish your time together because however long it may be, it isn’t long enough. I lost my dear mother back in 2010 with Lisa, myself, and her 8 grandchildren at her side. I did all I could do to make her proud. God bless you, Mrs. Gaetz.”

Dosev will have an uphill climb to defeat Gaetz with President Trump backing his every play. Trump is scheduled to rally with Gaetz later this year in Pensacola.
