Former Democratic congresswoman Gwen Graham, now running to become the sunshine state’s next Governor, has released a new ad attacking guns and addressing the Parkland school shooting. Since the shooting, gun control has overtaken the mainstream media and it will surely continue being a topic that’s heavily discussed heading into the upcoming midterm elections.
In the ad called “It’s Time,” congresswoman Graham talks about how the shooting has affected her and how she defeated an NRA backed congressman. The ad runs for a minute and 41 seconds.She details that “What happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas is every parent’s worst nightmare. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to lose a child. My heart breaks as a mom. That’s how this issue resonates with me.”
It shows footage of anti-gun rallies, and she explains that “Time after time after time we have done nothing in the face of these horrific tragedies. This time will be different. This time must be different.”

She concludes the advertisement by saying that, should she win her bid, the gun lobby “will lose again when I’m governor.”

She currently faces 3 other Democrats in her bid for the nomination, which includes businessman Chris King, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum and former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine. On the Republican side, Florida’s Agricultural Commissioner Adam Putnam and Representative Ron DeSantis who was endorsed by President Donald Trump.
