While the student-led movement to ban guns and ammunition continues, members of Congress continue to do their best of exploiting the tragic school shooting in Parkland, Florida by using the survivor as a spring board to do so. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) recently retweeted Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Jaclyn Corin tweets praising the Broward School Boards decision to “not engage” arming teachers.
Corin and other student activists seem to forget that the shooting most likely would never had happened if the Broward School Board, the FBI, and the Broward Sheriff’s Office, had not allowed Nikolas Cruz slip through their grasp. They also seem ignore the failed “Promise program” that allowed Cruz to escape arrest when he brought ammunition to school. Because bringing gun ammunition to school is not covered under the “Promise program,” Cruz should have been arrested. That arrest alone would have sounded off alarms when he sought to legally purchase a firearm.
Broward Schools and BSO knew all about Cruz and failed students. They failed everyone. Why aren’t these kids and legislators talking about this?
