Florida Democratic Senator Bill Nelson, currently in his reelection bid to not lose his seat to Florida Governor Rick Scott, praised the Syrian air strike authorized by President Donald Trump. However, he criticized the President because he believes Trump has “lost one of the essential things in a military victory … the element of surprise.”
Senator Nelson explained that he has no doubt that the United States has the military advantage on air, land and water, but he assures that “Vladimir Putin can beat us in cyber.” He was speaking to the media in Tallahassee shortly after the air strike was announced, and he explained that Russia had a cyber advantage because they had hacked the 2016 Presidential elections. He added that we should be wary of Putin because he has “demonstrated what he can do to an American essential institution.”But, since the air strike, both Russia and Syria have reported that the 12 missiles targeting important bases along with other missiles were shot down before they could make impact. This, Senator Nelson calls bluff.
He details that “Are you gonna believe the Russians and the Syrians? Are you gonna believe the guy who gasses his own people with the most pernicious kind of chemical attack, with all of those poisons where people foam at the mouth?” Nelson said. “You gonna believe a guy like that?”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
All eyes are on the response Russia will give after the strike if any at all.
