Appearing on Fox & Friends last weekend, Rep. Ron DeSantis (R), who is running for governor of Florida, stated what most Americans with knowledge of the Constitution have are thinking about raising the age to buy a gun from 18 to 21.

“I think when you start getting into some of the blanket restrictions on people’s Second Amendment rights, I think that that is constitutionally vulnerable. I think those lawsuits are probably going to succeed. I mean think about it, you have an enumerated right in the Bill of Rights, there’s really no precedent to just do a blanket ban on certain adults.”-Rep. Ron DeSantis

The NRA recently filed a lawsuit after a Florida bill that raised the age to purchase a firearm was signed into law by Governor Rick Scott, saying that the law violates two constitutional rights, the 2^nd and 14^th amendments to the US Constitution.

One thing is to ban a type of weapon used, another is to all-together ban the rights of millions of 18 to 21-year-old Americans from being able to buy and own a weapon.

Chances are that this law will get “shot down.”
