The term “bump stock” is one that many of Americans are now becoming familiar with after it was learned that the man responsible for the Las Vegas shooting that killed 59 and wounded hundreds of others, used this guns accessory to all-but convert his semi-automatic rifles to full-automatic.
According to the New York Times, “a “bump stock” replaces a rifle’s standard stock, which is the part held against the shoulder. It frees the weapon to slide back and forth rapidly, harnessing the energy from the kickback shooters feel when the weapon fires.**Pictures is a rifle equipped with a ‘bump stock.’
Now the powerful National Rifle Association (NRA), which has opposed any kind of restrictions on gun control and gun rights, is open to tighter restrictions on the sale of these “bump stocks” as a result of the shooting.

Meanwhile, many Democratic members of the U.S. Congress are still demanding sweeping gun control measures, aside from Nelson’s bill. Should regulations be tightened on ‘bump stocks?’
