The use of medicinal marijuana is now legal in Florida, but unfortunately, the fight to implement the measure will soon be argued in the courts.
One of medial marijuana’s largest proponents is Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, who since his days in the Florida Legislature, has pressed for the legalization of cannabis for medical use only.During his most recent committee hearing in Washington,D.C., Gaetz addressed the fact that the U.S. lags behind other western nations in researching the uses of cannabis.
“It is absolutely insane that marijuana is a Schedule one drug,”said Gaetz, adding that he couldn’t “imagine any adult, much less any elected member of congress believing that it is a good idea that people are medically using something in 25 states that we the federal government won’t allow research for.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Gaetz then said that he was pushing for a changes in federal medical cannabis research policy because he was “fulfilling” the “commitment” he made a little girl he met that was suffering from “dozens of seizures a day.”
Gaetz added that the US “should be ashamed” for allowing advance cannabis research to take place in other countries, and not stateside.
If you watch one thing today, make it @mattgaetz fighting his heart out for medical marijuana reform. Courageous stand some won't make. pic.twitter.com/zfeXEHRxIi
