In Washington, D.C. a noose was found at the National Museum of African-American History and Culture on Wednesday. This is the second incident in the past week of a noose being found on Smithsonian properties.
The museum Founding Director Lonnie Bunch said in a statement on Twitter:Today’s incident is a painful reminder of the challenges that African-Americans continue to face. This is a horrible act, but it is a stark reminder of why our work is so important.
The US Park Police said they are investigating “a case of that nature” but did not wish to comment more.

As for the museum, it was opened in 2016 by President Barack Obama and on Friday night, another noose was found hanging from a tree on the property.
