President Donald J. Trump’s firing of James Comey continues to be a divisive issue in the political realm. While supporters continue to point out hypocrisy from politicians from the left who called for the firing of Comey a while ago by arguing that he was no longer trustworthy, the criticism of the timing of the firing has elevated discussions of impeachment and so on.
But, Florida politicians have come to the President’s defense by arguing that firing FBI Director James Comey was the right thing to do. For example, Florida Governor Rick Scott agreed with the decision to fire the FBI Director by saying that “We need an FBI that is nonpartisan.”
Also commenting on the firing, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, one of candidate Trump’s earliest supporters, agreed with President Trump’s decision, and she explained that “it was justified. He has every legal right to do so. Democrats were complaining about him, Republicans were complaining about him. That job should not be a political job. We should not be hearing very publicly from the leader of the FBI.”
