Following Tuesday’s chemical attack in the northern Idlib Province of Syria, which left around 70 citizens dead, there was debate about the United States responding to the attack.
Today, President Trump answered the call and the United States has launched more than 50 tomahawk missiles at a Syrian base as a response to the chemical attack.Florida lawmakers like Senator Marco Rubio have responded to the attack with praise after criticizing the hands off approach that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had implied regarding ousting Bashar al-Assad from office.
In a statement, Senator Marco Rubio commented:

Tonight’s strike against the Assad regime’s Shayrat Air Base will hopefully diminish his capacity to commit atrocities against innocent civilians. By acting decisively against the very facility from which Assad launched his murderous chemical weapons attack, President Trump has made it clear to Assad and those who empower him that the days of committing war crimes with impunity are over. What must follow is a real and comprehensive strategy to ensure that Assad is no longer a threat to his people and to U.S. security, and that Russia no longer has free reign to support his regime.”
Echoing in support, Congressman Matt Gaetz (R) also commented that “President Trump’s non-lethal destruction of the base that launched a chemical attack against children is more than justified.”
Florida Representative Carlos Curbelo also extended his support in a series of tweets, praising President Trump for doing what Obama “should have done in 2013”.No world leader can get away with gassing innocent children to death. This was long overdue. @POTUS made the right call #Syria #Assad

.@POTUS did today what @POTUS44 should have done in 2013. If we do not lead who will? The world is better when US stands for justice #Syria

So proud that today our country ended the world's silence about #Assad's grotesque genocide that has claimed the lives of so many in #Syria

While some Republicans like Kentucky Senator Rand Paul comment that Trump should’ve sought Congressional approval before moving forward with the response, Carlos Curbelo contends that:
In addition, Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain, strong critics of Trump, issued a joint statement on the attack by praising President Trump.Presidents do not need to wait for permission from Congress to respond to world emergencies. They must lead with resolve #Syria

They stated:
“Unlike the previous administration, President Trump confronted a pivotal moment in Syria and took action. For that, he deserves the support of the American people. Building on tonight’s credible first step, we must finally learn the lessons of history and ensure that tactical success leads to strategic progress. That means following through with a new, comprehensive strategy in coordination with our allies and partners to end the conflict in Syria. The first measure in such a strategy must be to take Assad’s air force—which is responsible not just for the latest chemical weapons attack, but countless atrocities against the Syrian people—completely out of the fight.”
In response to the chemical attack, President Trump gave a statement on the approval of the launch by explaining that “No child of God should ever suffer such horror.”
