President Donald Trump has been pounding the media, especially CNN and NBC, for reporting so-called “fake news” in order to hurt his presidency.

Now from fake news to making news for not reporting, or let me say, not knowing the facts about an actual news event that happened in 2012, has dinged MSNBC.

When Florida Congressman Francis Rooney (R), who was on the MSNBC with host Katy Tur to discuss the possibly close ties Trump advisors had with Russia, Rooney threw Tur a curveball when he stated that President Obama was the one caught whispering  post election “flexibility” sweet nothings to then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Rooney stated it was Putin, but as we stated, it was really Medvedev. But does it really matter that he got the two names confused?

Not really.

Tur had no idea what Rooney was talking about, responding by saying that she didn’t know what he was “referring to.”

Tur: I see a lot of folks within Donald Trump’s administration who have a friendlier view of Russia than maybe past administrations did.

Rooney: Well, I think it was Obama that leaned over to Putin and said, ‘I’ll have a little more flexibility to give you what you want after the re-election.

Tur: I’m sorry, I don’t know what you’re referring to, Congressman.

Rooney: Remember when he leaned over at a panel discussion or in a meeting, and he said, ‘I’ll have more flexibility after the election?’…No one pushed the president on what he meant by that, but I can only assume for a thug like Putin that it would embolden him. –MSNBC

Tur tweeted her defenses, saying that in 2012 she did not cover news, rather reported on crimes.

Oh boy.

Can we expect President Trump to take to Twitter and have a field day with this incident?

We can only hope.
