For the most part, Americans support President Donald Trump’s actions to “Make America Great Again” and give him a pass whenever he says something off-color or questionable, chalking up those words as simply coming out of a man who is not a politically correct career politician.
Trump latest controversial comments on Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly show about the equivalency between Russia and the U.S. are hard to swallow or defend.During the interview with O’Reilly, Trump stated that he respected Russian President Vladimir Putin, but emphasized that it didn’t mean he would get along with him.
He’s a leader of his country. I say it’s better to get along with Russia than not. And if Russia helps us in the fight against ISIS, which is a major fight, and Islamic terrorism all over the world — that’s a good thing,” Trump said, using an acronym for the Islamic State group. “Will I get along with him? I have no idea.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
O’Reilly: “But he’s a killer, though. Putin’s a killer.”
Trump: “There are a lot of killers. We’ve got a lot of killers. What do you think? Our country’s so innocent?”
Wow.What can we take away from Trump equating the US to other murderers like Putin and Castro?
I want to say that Trump was referring to the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the overall war against Islamic terrorism, where Americans have spilled a lot of enemy blood, but his statement is pretty broad and damning.
Both Republicans and Democrats pounced on Trump’s remarks, including Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who took to Twitter to voice his opposition to what the president said.
Only reason we should ever lift sanctions on #Putin is if he meets conditions of sanctions & ends violations of #ukraine sovereignty. MR

When has a Democratic political activists been poisoned by the GOP, or vice versa? We are not the same as #Putin. MR

For the record there is no moral equivalence between #Putin's Russia and the United States of America. Not even close. #MTP @chucktodd

On another note, Rubio loved Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl Half-time performance
opening drive of 2nd half of this #SuperBowl is big. If @AtlantaFalcons put up another 7 will be quite a statement & may be fatal dagger
