Florida Representative Gus Bilirakis, who supports repealing and replacing Obamacare, held a health care listening session in order to hear his constitutents’ thoughts on Obamacare and what can and should be done. Pinellas County supported President Obama in the last two elections, but it overwhelmingly supported President Trump in the 2016 Presidential election.
During the 2 hour session, Bilirakis heard countless stories from people who implored him that Obamacare should not be repealed unless there’s a replacement ready to take effect soon after.Bilirakis responded by saying that “I think we need to repeal because we need to do it right and expand health care. It’s too expensive. The premiums are too high, the deductibles are too high.”
In addition, Bilirakis assured that he would work diligently to make sure that patients with pre-existing coverage would have access to health care coverage and that children would be able to stay on their parents’ plans until they’re 26 years old.

Donna Davis, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Tampa, was combative, saying that there was a disconnect between lawmakers and constituents when it came to the future of Obamacare, and that she would raise an “army of opposition against him if this shit doesn’t stop.”
On the campaign trail, President Trump vowed to replace Obamacare and lawmakers are holding discussions to see what a proper replacement should be.
