Tensions with Russia continue to rise as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D) told ABC’s “This Week” that he has bipartisan support for legislation that would forbid President Trump from lifting Russian sanctions on his own. To do so, the President would need to go through Congress before taking any measures.
In the interview, Schumer said that “for us to repeal sanctions, given what Russia has done in Ukraine and threatened the Baltics and, now, they have clearly tried to intervene in our election – whether it had an effect or not … that’s a danger that we have never faced to this extent in American history.”Schumer informed that he plans to introduce the legislation this week with Senator Ben Cardin (D), and he said that Republican Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham have both lent their support for the bill. Graham and McCain emerged with heavy criticism of Russia after allegations that Russia interfered in the 2016 election. Both Senators have also been critical of President Trump’s wishes to develop a friendlier relationship with Russia.
This legislation will surely draw criticism from President Trump who has long been skeptical of Russia’s involvement in the outcome of the Presidential election.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer detailed how the President had met with CIA officials to let them know that he had their backs. This came at a time when the President was looking to ease relations with intelligence agencies after being heavily critical of them after the election.
Had a great meeting at CIA Headquarters yesterday, packed house, paid great respect to Wall, long standing ovations, amazing people. WIN!
