President Obama isn’t even out of office yet and Republicans in US Congress are already in full-repeal Obamacare mode.
Just last week, the GOP in both chambers of the Congress voted on and passed budget bills to repeal the unpopular and failing Obamacare healthcare law. This law was a disaster since day one. I for one am on my fourth healthcare plan in three years.
For the first time (hopefully not the last) Speaker Paul Ryan, Senate House Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and President-elect Donald Trump, are in lock step with repealing Obama’s legacy legislation.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
This kumbaya moment between the outsider Trump and establishment Ryan and McConnell may be short-lived considering the bad blood that was spilt during the 2016 campaign cycle.
While the replacement of the healthcare law will most likely include the pre-existing condition provision, the bulk of the law will be completely scrapped, this according to a source close to the Trump administration.
Meanwhile, congressional Democrats are not taking the end of Obamacare lightly or laying down. In Florida alone, several members of the US House of Representatives will be holding public events to draw attention to the need for Obamacare, and to call out Republicans for repealing the healthcare law without a replacement in place.Democratic Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (pictured), Ted Deutsch, Lois Frankel, Alcee Hastings, Daren Soto, and Stephanie Murphy, are all slated to attend protests in and around South Florida.
