After losing the 2016 Presidential election to Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton has gone on record suggesting that “fake news” and hacking on behalf of the Russians contributed to her losing the election.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Vice President Joe Biden shared his thoughts on Clinton’s loss by saying he believes it was the result of Clinton never really figuring out why she was running. To support this argument, he cited similar concerns that were raised by Clinton aides in leaked wikileaks emails.“She thought she had no choice but to run,” said the Vice President. “That, as the first woman who had an opportunity to win the presidency, I think it was a real burden on her.”
While campaigning heavily on behalf of Secretary Clinton and even trading shots with President-elect Trump, Biden also felt that Trump could pull off a victory by the way he was able to energize people, especially in white, working class areas.

Trump’s rallies were often the focus of conversation during the Republican primaries and the general election because of the large crowds they attracted.
Biden recalled thinking “son of a gun. We may lose this election.” The voters were “all the people I grew up with. They’re their kids. And they’re not racist. They’re not sexist. But we didn’t talk to them.”
In addition, he commented that the Democratic party failed in its aim to attract voters because “we were not letting an awful lot of people — high school-educated, mostly Caucasian, but also people of color — know that we understood their problems.” He believes this was due to “a bit of elitism that’s crept in.”The Democratic party found itself enveloped in controversy during the campaign season after Debbie Wasserman Schultz stepped down as chairwoman after it was revealed that the DNC was colluding with the Clinton campaign to make sure the primaries went in her favor. Donna Brazile stepped in as acting DNC chairwoman but she also found herself involved in controversy after leaked Wikileaks emails showed that she was giving the Clinton campaign debate questions ahead of time.
