When just about every single member of the U.S. House of Representatives comes together to vote in favor or against a bill, the action is nothing less than miraculous.
Members of the House put aside their political differences and agreed that extending the existing sanctions against the Islamist state of Iran was in the best interest of the of national security.By a vote of 419-1, the House passed the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA), a bill (H.R.6297) that extended the sanctions for another 10 years.
“Today, we passed this very important bill for the national security of the United States and our allies in the Middle East…We need to continue—and we will under this bill—to impose sanctions against Iran. While the White House has deemed ISA as unnecessary, members disagreed with the President and believed that a fall back plan is needed to counter any violations of the obligations the Iranian government agreed on in the nuclear deal.
