Public opinion polls continue to show Senator Marco Rubio (R) defeating Rep. Patrick Murphy (D) in Florida contentious and all-important U.S. Senate race, but could that change?
The latest University of North Florida poll of 696 likely Florida a voters shows Rubio with a 7-point lead over his lesser known opponent. Apparently, Murphy’s lack of statewide name recognition is the one factor that is sinking his senatorial campaign.In the poll, 36 percent of those polled did not know who Murphy was, and that his favorability among them was only 35 percent.
What’s worse for Murphy is that unlike Rubio (81 percent), Murphy is not pulling in his Democratic base of support (69 percent), even as he leads Rubio with blacks 73-13 percent.

Interestingly enough, while Rubio is expected to win the Hispanic vote because of his Spanish-speaking prowess (Rubio happens to be Hispanic if case you were sleeping), Murphy is only trailing him with the coveted arroz con pollo vote 43-48 percent.
In addition, Rubio is leading Murphy with the hombres by 52-38 percent, but is virtually tied with Murphy when it comes to the ladies, 52-38 percent.
This poll was taken before Trump’s “colorful” videotape was released, so there is no way of knowing if the GOP presidential nominees words have taken a toll on Rubio’s polling among women.Meanwhile, Trump trails Clinton by 3 percent in the UNF poll.
