Jacksonville is bracing for Hurricane Matthew. Even though the storm is expected to be more off the coast then originally thought, it is still a Category 3 storm that will hammer the coast.
The National Hurricane Center says the eye of the storm will pass Northeast Florida coast at about 8 p.m. on Friday and it will remain a Category 3 storm when it does.While Jacksonville is still in the cone of concern, the eastern shift of the storm is really good news for anyone living west of Interstate 95.
What can be expected are power outages, storm surging and some flooding.

This storm has the potential of creating new inlets by the beach and it will most likely be a long time before the beach is back to normal once again.
The National Weather Service stated:
Some of the lowest barrier islands will be completely overtopped with large battering waves and life threatening flooding. Barrier islands are likely to (be) breached and it is extremely possible that new inlets will be cut in the worst affected ares . . . Complete and total destruction of structures on many of the barrier islands is likely.
