The sudden and tragic death of Miami Marlins star pitcher José Fernández in a boating crash has now become political.
After numerous politicians, including Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R) and Florida Governor Rick Scott, took to social media to convey sympathies they condolences, Republican congressional candidate Matt Gaetz tweeted this NFL Sunday game day gem:
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
To all who will kneel during the anthem today – just remember how Jose Fernandez risked his life just for the chance to stand for it
— Matt Gaetz (@mattgaetz) September 25, 2016
Former ESPN Sports anchor Keith Olbermann, a raging liberal activist, took issue with Gaetz’s tweets.
.@mattgaetz Delete your account, you cheap exploitative humanoid scumbag.

Also, here is another one of Olbermann’s tweets where he is explicitly breaking the U.S. Flag code of letting it(flag) touch the ground:
And here I am very self-righteously hard at work at tomorrow’s “74 MORE Reasons…” #TheCloserGQ pic.twitter.com/qVs69WgSbN

Gaetz, like most Americans, is upset that a growing number (small) of professional athletes, mainly NFL players, are refusing to stand for the national anthem.
Four Miami Dolphins recently joined the ranks of those who rather kneel or sit during the national anthem to show express their opposition to some so-called anti-Black police culture that law enforcement is out killing black men at will. The recent Charlotte riots were sparked when a black police officer shot and killed an man after that man pulled a gun on the officer.
Wait, I thought only white police officers where shooting defensive black men?
Back to Gaetz.
Before Gaetz sent out his tweet, the next congressman in Florida’s 1st congressional district state this:
“I just saw the news on José Fernández. As a Marlin fan, a Floridian and an admirer of the Cuban-American experience, I am crushed.”Gaetz later defended his tweet by saying, ” my point is that while America remains imperfect, so many do so much to enjoy our freedoms. Seems ungrateful to kneel. Just my opinion.” The POLITICO first reported the Twitter exchange between Gaetz and Olbermann.
Here is one of many vile remarks made at Gaetz in response to his initial tweet:
@mattgaetz you sir. Are the definition of an ashole. We kneel during the anthem because blacks still face inequalities.
