Clay County has a new sheriff and his name is Darryl Daniels. Daniels beat Sheriff Rick Beseler’s pick Craig Aldrich, former court clerk James Jett and former commissioner Harold Rutledge.
The final results were Daniels 35.45% of the vote, Aldrich 29.90%, Jett 17.58%, and Rutledge 17.07%.
The current sheriff put his legacy on the line endorsing Aldrich and in the beginning a lot of people thought he would win but the allegations of him taking a county vehicle to a strip club and the Clay County Sheriff’s office seemingly covering it up coupled with officers coming forward and claiming they were manipulating gang statistics and not investigating meth labs was too much to overcome.

If Daniels finds any evidence of corruption by the prior regime when he takes office expect the FDLE to start investigating.
