January 2016 marked 21 years since my grandfather, George L. Carlisle passed away. Even though he is gone his legacy still lives on whenever residents walk into the Clay County Courthouse that bears his name.He was a man of integrity who cared deeply about the residents and dedicated 32 years of his life to public service as the Clerk of Court. Back when he was still alive he fought tirelessly to get Republicans elected and is the main reason Clay County is so conservative to this day.
As I look around at the current races, I could not sit idly on the sidelines as the legacy my grandfather worked so hard to create is in jeopardy.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
This isn’t the first time Clay County has seen controversy and corrupt politicians. Back in 1986 my grandfather was interviewed by The Washington Post. That was the year the Republicans took control over the county from the Democrats. It wasn’t easy but as a Republican and an honest man who hated corruption and believed in a handshake and a word and men who kept their word, my grandfather helped shape the county into what it is today.
As a third generation Carlisle I can tell you, corruption threatens the very core of our county this election and if my grandfather was still alive he would be fighting hard to keep certain politicians out of office.
There are rumors going around in regards to infidelity, strip clubs and intimidation. A few weeks ago, Nikki Sanders wrote an article for Folio Weekly titled “Strip Search.” In it she claimed internal sources allegedly told her Craig Aldrich went to Mons Venus Strip Club with a county sheriff vehicle and the CCSO seemingly tried to cover up the fact he was there. In addition a story came out last week titled “Data Manipulation” that alleged sheriff officers stated under Aldrich’s watch meth labs were not being investigated and gang statistics were tampered with.
As a voter in Clay County, you have to ask yourself if you want a sheriff who seemingly has a blatant disregard for the very laws he is supposed to enforce?
I know I don’t and my grandfather wouldn’t want it either.
