Clay County School Superintendent Charlie Van Zant went on News4Jax yesterday and announced he sent a letter to the Florida Commission on Ethics to ask for an outside investigation into multiple counts of illegal actions he and the employees of the Clay County have been accused of doing.In the letter he stated:
I have stated publicly, and I say again, I have exercised all duties of my office in accordance with Florida Statutes and Clay County School Board Policies. I strongly urge your office to come investigate me in an effort to clear my name and protect the good name and outstanding reputation of the School District of Clay County. I have nothing to hide.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, Van Zant states Janice Kerekas and Carol Studdard are liars and the whole attack seemingly is being orchestrated by his opponent Addison Davis. As we pointed out previously, Davis’s campaign reports show on July 7, 2016 Janice Kerekas’s son, Micheal Kerekes was paid $1,350 for “campaign labor.”
Van Zant also stated the media is being played by Kerekas and Studdard because they are spreading lies. He said the reason they are attacking him is because it is well known he is a Christian conservative and they cannot stand it.It is absolutely gutter politics. These liars are making accusations that are over a year old, that should have been reported to either the Florida Commission on Ethics or me as the superintendent of schools, as per school board policy. But these liars do not want an investigation. These liars want to play the media. These liars knew we would be out of town last weekend, and our staff would have a three-day weekend.
A timeline of events presented by Van Zant shows how everything unfolded which he said the timing of same was “highly suspicious.” It was not only right before the elections, it was also right before a planned vacation day.
