Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was been praising Senator Marco Rubio while campaigning around the country, calling him a “good guy’ and saying that Rubio is doing “very well” in his Senate re-election race.
A few days ago, Trump went a bit further in his praises of the Florida senator, and just about endorsed Rubio’s senate campaign. Here is what Trump said of Rubio on July 29, 2016:
“Marco Rubio, he endorsed me last week- strong endorsement. He’s a good guy and he’s running in Florida for the Senate, and he’s gonna win. And I’m gonna win in Florida.”- Donald Trump
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
While this was not a full-throated endorsement of Rubio, you can’t really say that he split political hairs here. Trump emphatically states that Rubio is going to win his re-election bid.
Trump’s statement would imply that Rubio will win his Republican primary race against homebuilder Carlos Beruff, and eventually beat Democratic senatorial candidate, and presumable nominee, Rep. Patrick Murphy.
Murphy, who appears to be on an extended vacation in Nantucket or at some other undisclosed spot, has been trying to bash Rubio over his vote record in the U.S. Senate. In his efforts to hurt Rubio, Murphy has doubled-down on President Obama’s endorsement of his senatorial campaign, harping that he was pro-Choice, but failing to mention that the president referred to him as “a strong progressor.”
