Voter officials in Clay, Duval and Nassau counties reported that more than 6,500 Democratic voters have switched their party affiliation to Republican since the first of the year.
As reported by News4Jax, nearly 4,000 of them made the change within the past two months.
Whereas most people would assume they changed their affiliation because of presidential politics, it is most likely so they can vote in the closed Republican primary. It is said the main election they changed their affiliation for is the high-profile race for state attorney in the 4th Judicial Circuit which is made up of those three counties. Since it is a closed primary they would not be able to vote for the candidate of their choice if they were not a registered Republican.
