The strategy to focus all campaign efforts on one state, county, or city, has been proven to be a failed tactic, as former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani found out the hard way during his failed 2008 presidential campaign.
Giuliani polled high in Florida, leaving the former mayor believing that he could win the GOP presidential nomination by simply taking the state.Boy, was he wrong.
Now Lt. Governor and senatorial candidate Carlos Lopez-Cantera is showing big support in his home county of Miami-Dade.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Lopez-Cantera’s campaign has released an internal poll that shows “CLC” enjoying a 51 percent Republican vote advantage over his four other senatorial primary opponents.
Here is the breakdown of the 1,635 Republicans polled:
“CLC”-51%Carlos Beruff- 9%
Rep. David Jolly- 4%
Rep. Ron DeSantis- 3%
Todd Wilcox- 3%
“Miami-Dade has the largest concentration of Republican voters in Florida and for Lopez-Cantera to run up a significant lead shows he has secured a very commanding base…Having a stronghold on his home turf is certainly a strategic advantage in Florida’s most expensive media market; proof that Floridians’ support can’t be bought but has to be earned.”-Brian Swenson, Lopez-Cantera’s campaign manager (POLITICO)
While Lopez-Cantera is doing well in the boogie down better known as “La Saguesera,” or Miami, he’s not taking his home country advantage for granted. Lopez-Cantera has been racking up some serious road miles, attending as many Republican and Tea Party events around Florida as possible.
Lopez-Cantera is mimicking what his amigo Senator Marco Rubio (both pictured) did back in 2009-2010, when he ran for the U.S. Senate.
Rubio’s strategy to travel to every single swamp, beach, festival and bbq paid off, which translated into him winning every single Florida Panther and alligator vote.
Let’s not forget about Todd Wilcox, as the former U.S Army Special Forces and CIA officer has also been hitting the road, and has been able to win several local GOP straw polls.
But even as Lopez-Cantera and others in the race are beginning to garner more traction around the state, the fact still remains that all of the candidates are stills struggling to grasp enough statewide support and name recognition to actually start swaying the primary election.Homebuilder Carlos Beruff is spending big dinero to get his name out there. It’s working.
In just a couple of months, Beruff has been able to best the primary field of candidates (except for Lopez-Cantera).
This of course is per Lopez-Cantera’s very own poll.
Still, everyone in the race is a virtual no-name.
Rep. Ron DeSantis is the conservative choice, while Rep. David Jolly is still considered as the frontrunner because he has been at the top of most of the polls conducted in the senate race.Oh, and by the way, the Republican senatorial primary winner will face-off with either Rep. Patrick Murphy (D) or Rep. “Angry Alan” Grayson, who is have some ethics problems.
Murphy put out this funny “Angry Alan” website showing how Grayson has melted down over all of his ethics problems.
