It came as a bit of a shock to many in the political world when Republican Congressman Ander Crenshaw decided to retire from the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this year.
Because Florida’s 4th congressional seat (the seat Crenshaw is vacating)leans Republican, a slew of potential GOP candidates are expected to build up to fill the void. One potential candidate who is thought to be a shoe-in for the seat is state SenatorĀ Aaron Bean (R), but Bean has yet to announce whether or not he will jump into the race.
According to the Florida Supervisor of Elections, the following Republican candidates are listed as registered to run for the seat:
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
David Foxx
William McClure
Deborah Katz PueschelRep. Lake Gross Ray III
Two others that aren’t listed as congressional candidates by the state elections agency are Sheriff John Rutherford and Hans Tanzler.
Tanzler, who has never run for public office before, is considered the outsider in the race.
Tanzler most recent campaign announcement was the endorsement he received from former U.S. Congressman and senatorial candidate, Connie Mack III.
āWashington needs to be reformed, and Hans Tanzler is exactly the man to do it…Insiders and special interests have no chance against the commonsense and insightful leadership of Hans Tanzler. I can think of no one better to be engaged in overturning Obamacare and balancing our budget than him.āĀ –Connie Mack III
