Of the five Republican senatorial candidates in Florida, only Reps. Ron DeSantis and David Jolly stand a chance of beating Democratic senatorial front-runner Rep. Patrick Murphy (pictured) in a general election match up later this year.
According to the latest Quinnipiac University poll of 1,051 registered and likely Florida voters, Murphy bests businessmen Carlos Beruff and Todd Wilcox, as well as Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera.Against, DeSantis and Jolly, Murphy’s chances of winning the seat that Senator Marco Rubio is vacating, disappear.
Murphy does have a primary opponent in Rep. Alan Grayson. Yes, that Grayson, who is known for his off-the-wall and incendiary remarks, is giving the two-term congressman quite a senatorial run.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
But even though Grayson is garnering significant support from grassroots Democrats, the Q poll shows that the controversial congressman could very well lose to any of the five Republican senatorial candidates.
Here is the breakdown of Murphy’s path to victory against the five GOP senatorial candidates. Again, this is according to the poll, and it is still very early in the season to say that Murphy will win the seat.
Murphy vs. Carlos Beruff, 38-32Murphy vs. Todd Wilcox, 38-33
Murphy vs. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, 38-34
Murphy vs. David Jolly, 37-34
Murphy vs. Ron DeSantis, 36-35
Again, it is way too early to crown anyone the next Senator from Florida. The Q poll has a margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
