Even though Governor Rick Scott has said he has no horse in the race for U.S. Senate, during a speech in Sarasota he praised Manatee County developer Carlos Beruff. He also highlighted parts of his resume in detail.
According to the Tampa Bay Times Scott said:I want to wish Carlos Beruff unbelievable success.
Beruff is one of five Republicans running for the seat. The other candidates are Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera, former CIA case worker Todd Wilcox, U.S. Representative Ron DeSantis and U.S. Representative David Jolly.

After listening to Beruff give a brief speech Scott talked about his resume in detail. He stated Beruff questioned contracts and other expenses at the State College of Florida where he is a member of the board of trustees.
Scott also praised Beruff for his work while he was a member of the Southwest Florida Water Management Board. He said “he did a great job.”
Just two days prior, Scott gave the keynote address at the Pasco County Republican Party’s Ronald Reagan Dinner with Lopez-Cantera in the audience. Scott spent half as much time talking about Lopez-Cantera’s background and did not provide as much accomplishments as he did for Beruff.Scott even left before Lopez-Cantera gave his speech.
When asked on Thursday night if that meant he is supporting Beruff, Scott insisted he was not going to endorse. He also said “I think both of them would do a good job.”
