With Senator Marco Rubio leaving the U.S. Senate at the end of this election cycle, Rep. Ron DeSantis (R)has decided to leave his very safe Republican congressional district in Northeast Florida to run for Rubio’s Senate seat.
DeSantis’ seat is now open and the field of possible replacements, which includes two state representatives and a former 2010 Rubio Senate campaign staffer, is growing. Whomever wins the Republican primary race in Florida’s 6th congressional district will be the next U.S. Congressman.With that said, have you all heard of an individual named Pat Mooney?
Well, if you work in politics or loiter within certain political circles, the name rings a bell.

Mooney, who will throw in his own cash to jump start his congressional campaign, is political veteran who has worked on several high profile congressional campaigns as national fundraising mail vendor.
Some of Mooney’s past clients include Senator Rubio, former Congressman Allen West in 2012, Mia Love, and Rep. Martha McSally in 2014.
Mooney’s political ties don’t just end there. The father of seven is also related to sitting U.S. Congressman Alex Mooney (R-WV), Miami City Commissioner Francis Suarez, and Miami-Dade County Commissioner Xavier Suarez.Yup, Mooney is Cuban.
And being that he is of Cuban descent and a registered Republican, it is fair to assume that he is not all that happy with President Obama’s move to “normalize” relations with the Castro brothers and legitimizing their decades-long reign of terror over the Cuban people.
Mooney recently echoed the many voices of dissent in denouncing Obama’s trip to Cuba.
President Obama’s visit to Cuba gained nothing but additional scorn and ridicule for his failed foreign policy agenda. In fact, his visit only helped legitimize Castro’s communist regime and did nothing to further human rights or freedom for the Cuban people.-Pat Mooney
With that said, Mooney is also a strong proponent of building a wall along the U.S. borders to stem the tied of illegal immigration and the criminality that comes along with it, like human trafficking, drug smuggling, and the threat posed by radical Islamic fundamentalism.Mooney’s campaign palm card checks off the issues of all the boxes that self-proclaimed conservative Republicans say they support and oppose- building a wall, being pro-Life, against Obamacare, no amnesty, pro-gun, etc.
At the end of the day, all of the candidates in this soon-to-be hotly contested congressional race, will have to make an earnest effort to distance themselves for the rest of the pack, and hope that they can win over just enough voters to make a difference in what could be a very tight primary election night result.
