Single women and men who live together can now release a sigh of relief because shacking up is no longer against the law.
Since 1868 a single man and woman living together in the state of Florida could be fined $500 and locked up for 60 days. Florida was one of a few states who still had that law on the books and they would enforce it from time to time.Believe it or not, this was not the first time the legislature tried to repeal the statute. They tried for several years and each time it was shot down. The opposition believe single men and women living together was against biblical principles and that is why it remained in place.
Those in support of the bill were quick to point out times have changed and Florida has nearly 438,000 unmarried male-female couples according to the 2014 census.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Finally this year the repeal was passed and Governor Scott signed it.
