As the 2016 presidential primary race turns to Florida, Billionaire Donald Trump has turned up the heat on Senator Marco Rubio in his home state, as the native Floridian finds himself with his back against the wall after poor showings on Super Saturday.
One bright spot for Rubio was that he did win Puerto Rico’s delegates after an overwhelming victory.Trump is trying to finish Rubio off before the March 15 winner-take-all primary race, where he leads the native son by less than 10 points in the latest public opinion polls.
During a rally in Orlando, Florida, Trump went as far as to call Rubio an “idiot” who has neglected his job as a sitting U.S. Senator, and one that takes his marching orders from his donor base of support.

The move to try to knock out Rubio instead of the second place Cruz is smart in that Cruz is not expected to win Florida, whereas Rubio was perceived as the frontrunner in Florida, regardless of Trump’s lead in the most recent statewide polls.
Coming off his two primary wins on Super Saturday, Cruz should see a surge in popularity that may put him in contention to win Florida, but it seems as if Trump could very well sweep both Florida and Ohio on March 15 and all but assuring him the GOP presidential nomination.
