The 2016 Republican presidential primary race between Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio, has turned into more of a WWE cage match than an actual political contest based on a substantive discussion about issues that concerning Americans.
Rubio has now joined in on the name calling, and is attacking Trump on his appearances, calling him a “con artist,” saying that he has “small hands,” as well digging on him for what Rubio says is a bad “spray tan.“You know what they say about a man with small hands…You can’t trust them.”-Sen. Marco Rubio
“Donald is not going to make America great,” said Rubio, again drawing cheers and laughter. “He’s going to make America orange!”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
But while Rubio has even made fun of Trump’s hair, joking that Trump flies around on “Hair Force One,” Trump has countered that personal attack by pressing on the fact that Rubio is going bald, and has even made reference to the size of his ears.
During a campaign event in Kennesaw, Georgia a few days back, Rubio said this:
“You guys wanna have a little fun today?” Rubio mischievously asked the crowd, holding up his cell phone.“Last night he was actually pretty calm after I punched him around a little bit,” he said of Trump.
“He’s learning how to spell, I guess. But he’s flying around on Hair Force One and tweeting.”
The spelling dig was a reference to a series of mistyped Trump tweets Friday, where the business mogul repeatedly called Rubio a “chocker” and noted the “honer” of winning polls.
“So here’s the one tweet he put out, he put out a picture of me having makeup put on me at the debate,” Rubio said, referring to another Trump tweet from Friday.
“Which is amazing me to me, that the guy with the worst spray tan in America is attacking me for putting on makeup.”-The Hill
Trump has been hitting Rubio pretty hard, calling him “little Rubio,” lightweight,” little,” and making fun of his propensity to perspire.
Trump also stated this past weekend that Rubio “couldn’t get elected dogcatcher,” let alone president.
Senator Ted Cruz has not gone down that same road that both Trump and Rubio have, instead the Texas Senator is pointing out that his presidential campaign is “the only campaign that has beaten Donald Trump,” and that because 65 percent of Republican votes disapprove of Trump, adding that his campaign has the only real chance to defeat the billionaire businessman.
All this name-calling and personal attacking may not make much of a difference come Super Tuesday, as it appears that Trump could run the table, and all but defeat Rubio and Cruz even before the March 15 primary elections in the winner-take-all states of Ohio and Florida.
Rubio is currently trailing Trump in his home state of Florida. According to the Realclearpolitics.com average of polls, Trump leads Rubio by 20 points. Ouch.
