Last Saturday’s GOP presidential primary debate saw several of the candidates throw, and in some instances, land politically expedient haymakers against one another in order to sway public opinion polls.
Saturday was also the day that U.S. Supreme Court Judge Antonin Scalia died of natural causes, prompting an ideological slugfest between Democrats and Republicans on whether or not to replace him before or after President Obama’s second term in office ends.Appearing on Fox New Channel’s “Hannity,” U.S. Senator and Republican presidential candidate, Ted Cruz, told Sean Hannity that if a liberal judge is appointed to replace Scalia by either a President Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton, it could mean the end of the Second Amendment to the Constitution.
I believe we should make 2016 a referendum on the U.S. Supreme Court. Let the voters decide. If the Democrats want to fill this vacancy, they have to win in November.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Cruz also pointed out that Scalia’s passing signals that Donald Trump cannot be trusted with appointing a Supreme Court justice because for 60 years of his life, Cruz says Trump supported partial-birth abortion, not to mention donating liberal Democrat Jimmy Carter over President Ronald Reagan, as well as donating to Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, and Harry Reid.
Trump has threatened to sue Cruz if he does not apologize for what he and Rubio say are lies Cruz told about them in order to help his presidential campaign. Cruz countered by comparing the similar attacks Trump and Rubio levied against him, saying that the two men have reverted to calling him a “liar, liar, liar” simply because he pointed out their past records.Anyone who contributes to all of those left wing politicians does not care about having conservative Supreme Court judges on the court.
Rubio accused Cruz of lying when he said that Rubio supported a pathway to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants, but like Cruz pointed out, Rubio did express his support for this pathway to citizenship in a past presidential debate and in other video recorded TV interviews.
The Realclearpolitics.com average of polls has Cruz in a solid second place in South Carolina behind Donald Trump, and Rubio in third place.
