Donald Trump is agreeing with what I said: skipping the debate hurt him in Iowa.
On Tuesday he said his decision to skip the debate before the Iowa caucuses may have led to his second-place finish.He was still happy with how he did in Iowa saying he did “very well” but expectations might have been set too high.
That could’ve been with the debate. I think some people were disappointed that I didn’t go into the debate.

Trump added he would make the same decision again because he raised $6 million for veterans’ charities.
He added:
I think we did very well. I guess what did happen is one poll came out that said we were four or five points ahead and maybe built up a false expectation for some people.
Trump said he does not think Marco Rubio will cut into his lead in New Hampshire. He also said he expects to take some of the independent voters from Bernie Sanders who is the leading Democratic candidate in the Granite State.
New Hampshire’s primary is being held on February 9.
